Brody's Checkups

Monday, we took Brody to Dr. Parent (pediatric neurosurgeon) for a check up on his head. We were looking for two things: Craniosynostenosis (closing up of his sutures and soft spot) and Hydrocephalus (fluid on his brain). He was cleared of both!!!! Doc said all of his sutures were open and looked good. He was born with a small amount of fluid on his brain, but doc said there has been no significant increase in the amount which is great news!!!!

After that appointment, we called his pediatrician for yet another ear infection. He said we didn't even have to come in, that this one was right on time and called us in another antibiotic with a referral to Dr. Sneed (ENT).

Yesterday I went to see Dr. Sneed and Brody is scheduled for tubes next Friday morning. YAY! Hopefully this will keep him well for awhile.

**Sidenote: To all of you who got the stomach virus this week, I was with you! Two days of it!! I don't know how we all got it, but thank goodness it doesn't last long!

Brody's Baptism

We celebrated Brody's baptism last Sunday. We want to say a big thanks to all of our family and friends who were able to share in this sacrament.

So, I took TONS of pics, but lost some so we had a little re-enactment at our house Monday night. Thanks again Lisa for the gown, blanket, and bib!! We dressed Brody back up in his gown and took these pics: (Keep in mind this was also the beginning of ear infection number 7 or number 6 not clearing up all the way...more on this later.)

After the baptism, Ken's parents hosted a small party at their house. Thanks again!!!! Here's a pic of the yummy cake.

We had lots of babies in attendance:
Brody's cousin Ryan...they are only a day a part!

Miss Priss Ella in her pretty dress

Miss Emily Kay also looking so cute in her dress, its so hard to get cute things for boys!

Tyler who did not want to smile for me, but did for EVERYONE else!!! Sweet thang!!

Isn't it funny how we I looked back on all the pictures I took, most of them were of the babies. Oh how times have changed. So much less posing the "sorority pose" and more time screaming, jumping up and down, looking like a crazy person, trying to get your kid to even glance your direction much less smile for you. But I did manage to snag a few of the poeple who came:

Me and my sister, Lauren

Amanda and Tyler

Kim and Casey

And the rest fit no category, but were just fun to take!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

My sister-in-law, Elizabeth, also celebrated a birthday!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!!!

We had a little celebration/get-together Sunday after Church. Ford and Sandi (Ken's brother and his wife) cooked hamburgers and hotdogs. It was nice to get the fam together for an afternoon.
Here are some pictures I took from the day...
Evan says, Cheese!!

Evan, Ryan, and BrodyAnd just let me say...it is not an easy job getting 4 boys under the age of 7 to all look the same way at the same time and smile! This is the best I got!

Belated But Not Forgotten!!!

Happy Birthday Casey and Amanda!!!

Busy Weekend

First of all, I want to say thanks to everyone who listen to me complain all week last week. Every morning I kept telling myself words from a Matthew West Song.

Yesterday is history.
History is miles in the past.
Today is a new day!

But....it did not always go that way. Between sick baby and my tooth, I was just ready for it to be over.

This was Brody Monday night when his fever was so high. Look how pink his cheeks were! That was a first! But he finally got better, and the week finally ended! Thank goodness for weekends! I had a busy weekend, never really stopped or slowed down, but it was a fun weekend.

Friday night, we went to dinner at El Ranchito with Mitch, Bryce, and Ella. After dinner we stopped by my parents who offered to keep him over night since they were going to babysit Saturday morning anyway. Well, who am I to deprive Brody of his grandparents so I said, "Of Course!" Saturday morning, Ken and I ran some much needed errands and then came home to clean the house.

Saturday night Rob, Kim, and Bryce and Mitch, Bryce, and Ella came over for dinner. We had such a good time.
I snapped these before everyone arrived.

Bryce and Brody pose for a pic!

Bryce shows Brody how to play with his new toy.

Bryce loves the computer.( Pooter as he calls it.) We have a special just for him!
Ella is one of the hardest kids to get a pic of. But isn't she gorgeous!!!

Bryce loves to read!

On the Mend

The Hayman's are on the mend. Thanks for all the calls about Brody. He is doing MUCH better!!! His fever finally broke around 2:30 Wednesday morning. WOOHOO!

My tooth is still killing me but that should end today. Root Canal scheduled for today at noon.

Bailey's ear is clearning up as well.

Pretty soon, before we know it, everyone will be well and happy. But I'm definitely ready for this to be over!!

Nervous Mommy!

This hour marks 14 hours of temp of 102 or higher! Ugh! I hate a sick baby...and obviously I did not go to work so I guess observation will just have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry Team!

Talented Auntie Tink!

I forgot to mention in the previous post, among all the gloom and doom, Brody's Baptism gown arrived today! My aunt (Auntie Tink to Brody) has been working so hard on making a gown that could be passed down and around our family. It is absolutely amazing all the detail she has put into it.

Ken's reaction: It's a dress... really... a dress?

Me: Of course! I can't pass down a romper!

So, my baby boy will be in a gown for his Baptism, its not like I'm parading him around the prom in one. I think its classic and traditional and AMAZING! Lisa (my aunt) did such an awesome job! I don't want to post pics until he's in it and he's too puny to do any modeling today. Along with his gown, she made a bib and blanket for his special day. She even made the garment bag it all hangs in. I got none of her talent I promise!

She also made (homemade) bibs and a 1950's style boy's bathing suit. I can't wait until he gets well so we can try it out.

B for Brody! Close up view
H for Hayman

Front of bathing suit...I wish I had gotten a close up of the buttons...they are little fish!
Back of bathing suit...this is just too cute!

Sick Baby, Sick Puppy, Sick Mommy!

This afternoon I was sent to the dentist, Bailey was sent to the vet, and Brody was sent to the pediatrician.
Diagnosis:
Nicole: Root Canal scheduled Thursday afternoon.
Bailey: Bacterial infection in both ears.
Brody: Ear infection in right ear.

Seriously....could this afternoon get any crazier!!! Thank goodness it rained all day because Ken was able to get off and take Bailey and Brody where they needed to be. Brody has been having really bad poopy diapers the last two days and tugging at his ears. We pretty much knew what was going on.

So, this make #6. They want to refer him to the ENT as soon as possible, but we have to get the all clear from the neurologist on the 25th. Looks like tubes are in his near future!

Here is a picture of my poor, pitiful, puny baby!

Now after this insane afternoon, all I want to do is take my pain meds and go to sleep. But my team at school is coming to observe me teach the Literacy Block at 8:00 in the morning. I've got to prepare for them. We are doing completely new things this year, so I'm still adjusting to the way I teach. And of course its only the 4th day of school and my sweet babies are well....still untrained babies! Not exactly the time you want to be getting observed. But I LOVE my teammates and we are only trying to make each other stronger so I will do whatever is necessary! Pain and all!

Brody is Seventh Months Old!

It seems the older they get the harder it is to get a good picture. But I still try, even with a sick

baby and a broken camera. You will notice the pictures are dark and kind of blurry. I have got to get a new camera!!! (This would be one reason I haven't blogged in awhile). I have missed so many photo ops. Play date with Ella, night with the fam, Michael's farewell...not one single picture!!!!

So bare with me and these pictures....

Brody turned seven months on Saturday. I wanted Brody to sit by this cute little sign I made. Seriously...what was I thinking, I must have been way too drugged up! (More about that to come.)

You want me to do WHAT Mommy?

Oooohh, I can't resist a crinkly sheet of paper...gimmmeeee!!!Got it!!! Now if I can just..... ooohhhh almost...

Yesssss! Got it in my mouth! Now what did you want me to do again? Ha! Okay so I know I have a cute kid!

His 7 month stats estimated are:

Weight: 16.5lbs

Height: 28.50 inches

Mood: Little fussy, dang ole cold! Started pulling on his ear again yesterday so we'll see where this takes us. But when he's not sick, he's pretty much happy all the time...definitely lets you know when its feeding time!

Milestones: Sitting up pretty well, still could care less about crawling or laying on his tummy. Talking all the time, LOVES Baby Einstein: tries to break his neck to find it when we turn it on. Still no teeth and no hair...gotta love the old bald toothless man look. Loves his Exersaucer and Bumbo (Amen to whoever invented those!) Working on the sippie cup, he would rather play with it than drink out of it...not a big fan of juice.

Food: Still on 2nd Gerber Foods, not digging the meats so much, can't say I blame him much. Still trying to convince him he likes fruit, think I'm winning, but still makes a face every time he eats it.

Daycare Update: We got him into Building Blocks down the road from his old daycare. The numbers are much lower and they get way more floor time. We'll see how this goes...
