Great Afternoon!

Weekend With the Fam

I have not posted much in the last week, especially pics of Brody. For one, he's been really sick...see pic below...

(feeling MUCH better now), two my husband has been MIA from the Hayman House for almost two weeks. But the Viking Classic is finally OVER...yes Bryce....really...its OVER!!!! Somehow we managed to survive it, don't know if our husbands fared as well.

For all of you who haven't had to listen to the many phone calls, complaining of how bored I was, Ken has been working nonstop for about two weeks getting ready for and working the Viking Classic Golf Tournament held out at Annadale Golf Course. I had no idea what it would entail and OMG! its insane for the boys. They were up and out the door by 4:30...yes in the morning. And were in the bed around 11:00 each night. I hated it for Ken because he missed seeing Brody...and I'm sure in there somewhere he was pining away for his lovely wife. ha.

So, much to my surprise, Ken actually made it to the family dinner at his parents house last night. His stepsister Jennifer was in town from Austin, TX so we had a cookout. We got to get the babies together. (Brody's cousin is a day younger than him...not even a day, hours really.)

We snapped some pictures when we could...thanks Evan! This is what we got:

My sister, Lauren, also felt sorry for me, and hung out with me this weekend. We ate pizza, drank some beer, and watched movies. It was a lot of fun and took my mind off the craziness that was going on with not having Ken around.Brody LOVES dog and Chip was just his size. I wish I had gotten that on video. He CRACKED up every time he saw Chip. And Chip hated Brody, he just growled and barked which made Brody laugh even harder. Too funny!

Isn't it Funny...

how the second we become mothers, we inherit some sort of supersonic hearing, but our husbands have quite the opposite reaction. They develop deafness. Yes, deafness. But only to the cry of an infant or nag of a wife. They have no trouble hearing a football game over the two.

So the reason for my late night post...We had fallen asleep, as we usually do, with the TV on. I sit straight up out of my sleep to a screaming baby. I immediately run into Brody's room, he is laying there breathing loudly with all that congestion, but sleeping, not screaming. Where is this coming from. Still half asleep, I managed to make my way into the living room, kitchen, back to his room (still sleeping). Finally give up on finding the screaming kid, tell myself I was dreaming and manage to crawl back in bed. As I am doing this, I notice the Feed The Kids program on TV. Lots of crying babies there. So I wasn't dreaming and I learned I have amazing reaction time to my kid. Well, any kid apparently, even if they are countries away.

Maybe now I can get back to sleep...but high five to all the mothers who will hear their kid cry tonight and to have the strength not to think ill thoughts of the daddies who simply just can't hear it. ha.

Sick Baby...AGAIN!!

Alright, so its not an ear infection this time...that's good news. At least the tubes are working.

Today was an example of divine intervention at its best. Mondays are usually a longer day at work for me. But a fellow teacher needed a ride to her after school job (I know, can you believe someone who teaches 25 5 year olds can have another job!!!) so I left at 3:30.

I barely get in the door of the daycare before they let me know how awful Brody had been feeling. He spent the day either screaming his head off or sleeping. He had been running a low grade fever, never getting over 100 but just enough to make him feel yucky.

So, I called the doctor and they agreed to see him. He ended up having a sinus infection, red ear, red throat. We got a shot of that R drug, no clue how to spell it, an antibiotic, and a decongestant.

Currently he is in his bed. Sounds like he's hacking up a lung or something. I think its going to be a long night, one ending up with him in the swing in our room.

What a night for Ken to be working late...

I now have a GREATER appreciation for single moms, I don't know how you do it all the time by yourself. I'm exhausted! (And I had grandparent help!)

State Game

Well...there's just not much to say about that. But at least Auburn didn't fare too much better. A win is a win but really 3 to 2?

We went to Kim and Rob's last night to watch the game and eat dinner. Brody and Bryce were decked out in their MSU gear. Even if we didn't win, they sure did look cute!

Bath Time!

Brody is Eight Months Old

Where has the time gone? (Sigh) Definitely not my scrawny baby from before...

Brody's Stats:

Weight: 17lbs
Height: Not sure
Milestones: Can sit unsupported (YAY!!!) Still no hair and no teeth.

Loves: Bath time, dogs, closing things (any of his toys that pop open he insists on closing them!) getting tossed in the air, his swing, Baby Einstein Neighborhood Animals movie, Ken, sleeping on his side with his Luvie under his arm, Sweet Potatoes, Apple Straw-Banana, Berry Banana

Hates: Meats, taking medicine (unless its his Prevacid, tastes like a SweetTart), laying on his stomach

This is such a fun age to watch him learn and explore. He's not mobile yet but is curious about EVERYTHING! I love the fact that I can sit him down with some toys and he content all by himself. Fun!!

Tubes In, Earaches Out!

Or so we hope...

Friday morning we took Brody to the MS Surgical Center for tubes. Dr. Sneed did the operation. He was great. He reassured us as best he could and was very quick! He did say that his ears were a nasty mess, Thanks Doc. But that there was so much fluid on his left ear that he ear drum was compressed and he had to use a smaller tube. But he deemed the operation a success and we go back in a month for a check up.

I talked to many people who have been through this and thought I was somewhat prepared for what was to come. But I had no idea. He woke up like a monster! He fought me and flailed around, it was the craziest thing I've ever seen. Thank goodness that part only last about 20 minutes and he passed out in my arms.

He was pretty fussy the rest of the morning, but fell asleep for 3 hours around lunchtime! He woke up in such a good mood. I could tell he was feeling better already! We had dinner at my parents house and he fell asleep around 8:00. Woke up feeling good today too. So far so good...
Here are some pics we took.
