Isn't it Funny...

how the second we become mothers, we inherit some sort of supersonic hearing, but our husbands have quite the opposite reaction. They develop deafness. Yes, deafness. But only to the cry of an infant or nag of a wife. They have no trouble hearing a football game over the two.

So the reason for my late night post...We had fallen asleep, as we usually do, with the TV on. I sit straight up out of my sleep to a screaming baby. I immediately run into Brody's room, he is laying there breathing loudly with all that congestion, but sleeping, not screaming. Where is this coming from. Still half asleep, I managed to make my way into the living room, kitchen, back to his room (still sleeping). Finally give up on finding the screaming kid, tell myself I was dreaming and manage to crawl back in bed. As I am doing this, I notice the Feed The Kids program on TV. Lots of crying babies there. So I wasn't dreaming and I learned I have amazing reaction time to my kid. Well, any kid apparently, even if they are countries away.

Maybe now I can get back to sleep...but high five to all the mothers who will hear their kid cry tonight and to have the strength not to think ill thoughts of the daddies who simply just can't hear it. ha.

This is something that has also baffled me for the past 15 months. But, I have not found the strength not to think ill thoughts of the sleeping daddy when this happens. Ha! Good luck with that.

See we have the opposite problem. Clint is the light sleeper and you couldn't wake me if you tried. But, if the TV is on, I can hear Tyler over the sound of cowbells or whatever sounds the football game is making. Tyler however, can set off his SIDS monitor, with the alarm screaming, me running to his room, Clint laughing at how fast I can actually move...and Tyler is sleeping peacefully through it all... wonder where he got that from...
