Update on Brody

First of all, we want to say a HUGE thanks to all of the prayers, calls, and concerns over Brody today. It has been a long day, one that is probably not over yet. But the worst is most likely over.

Second of all, I want to remember today's events so I am writing most of them down in this blog. If you don't want to read through all of it, scroll down and look at the pics. I love his Looney Tunes gown. Ha!

We got up around 4:00 and got everyone ready and headed out of the door around 5:15. They took us all back around 6:30. We got him changed and waited for the Anesthesiologist to come by and give him some "happy" medicine. He told us they were going to give him gas through a mask and then start an IV to take him deeper into sleep. They had to put a breathing tube in because of the abdominal work on his hernia. No. I was not prepared for all of that. I really thought it would be like tubes. A walk in the park. Not even close. I have to stop and say that we are VERY fortunate to have such a healthy little boy. With Pfieffers, there are many things that can happen and he seems to only have the mildest symptoms.
Okay...on to the surgery...
Then they took him back around 7:15, called us at 7:45 and said he was under and they were starting.About 9:15, they called back to say his feet were done and they were moving on to his belly. Around 10:00 they told us he was in recovery and we got to see him shortly after. He was still hooked up to the IV. I have to admit I was so nervous, still am. I feel so helpless.
We came home around 12:00 and he went straight to sleep until about 2:30. From here on out it was pretty much the same thing...sleep, wake up, SCREAM, cry, sleep, wake up, SCREAM, cry, sleep...you get the picture. I still don't know if he's fully out from under the effects of the anesthesia but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. He managed to drink some juice, so later we moved him to milk, a few bites of toast and eggs. About two hours later, it all came back up. But since then, he immediately CRASHED OUT in our bed. So I'm guessing his tummy was upset most of the afternoon. Thank goodness he got some relief...to bad that relief went all over Ken's shirt.

You can tell Brody is thrilled about being up so early...

Brody was waiting to get his happy medicine.

Looks pretty happy already doesn't he? Very short lived ha!

After medicine, cuddling with Ken watching Reading Between the Lions.

Post surgery ride home...look at those sweet feet!

Literally minutes after getting sick all over Ken...completely knocked out!

Again, thank you for all of the calls and prayers. We are touched at how many people care for Brody and our family.
