Back to Reality

I woke up this morning, not to the sound of the waves crashing or the smell of the sea air, but to Brody screaming and the rank smell of a poopy diaper. I'm officially back to reality. No more vacation, no more waking up on my own, no more relaxing days on the beach...nope, back to summer school, cleaning house, grocery lists, and best of all BRODY! Okay, Okay, so I officially stink at leaving him. I think I set the record for number of phone calls made home in a given day. Every baby I saw on the beach, every cute outfit that would look just perfect on him, made my stomach ache. It has to get easier than this! But I made it three whole nights and I survived. That's the first step.

So, back to our trip. Despite the previous paragraph, we had an AMAZING time! ('ll post pics when I get back home, I'm at school now.) I guess I'd forgotten what its like to be alone with your husband. It was nice having conversations and actually spending quality time with him. With his new job at the golf course, "Hello", "Goodnight" are about as much conversation as we've been having lately. We attempted to do all these things, a movie, putt-putt, but one thing Ken has taught me lately is that not everything demands a plan. So, I let loose and just relaxed. What an amazing feeling! We managed to get in a full day and a half of sun, beach, and sand. I decided that I knew way more about tanning than any sunscreen bottle and made the executive decision to not wear any. How was I going to get a tan with that stuff anyway. Well I got a tan alright, and a nice sunburn with it. So, we sat on the beach, and under the umbrella the second day. By the time we had gotten to our room for lunch, the rain came. That was my sign it was time to go shopping!

I discovered a new store. ( Petite Sophisticate) It has clothes especially for short people! I knew these types of stores existed but they always seemed like they were for old people. Well I guess I'm old because I finally found a pair of jeans that fit and don't drag the ground. Just because clothes say "short" or "ankle" doesn't' mean that they truly are. Or else I am really that short. I'm officially not in college anymore. I also found Brody a few outfits. We had a great trip, sad its over, but so happy to have my baby back.

...here come my 3rd graders...ahhhh reality, its definitely back!
